We’ll advise on suitability, risk level and the best companion measures (personality/values and simulations) if needed.

Who is it for?

...

Senior managers, leaders, and professionals whose effectiveness depends on how they balance people, task, and self-management demands, and whose motivation, values, and behavioural preferences have a direct impact on performance, engagement, and retention.

MAPP is particularly well suited to roles where style, judgement, and motivation influence outcomes as much as technical competence.

Where work requires

...

Leading others, influencing stakeholders, making trade-offs between competing priorities, and operating within organisational, cultural, or ethical boundaries.

Exercising  judgement and effective decision-making.  Providing structure as well as innovating.

Dealing with risk factors linked to disengagement, absenteeism, or turnover

JA domain alignment
  • Judgement: reveals how individuals typically approach decisions, balance people and task demands, tolerate ambiguity, and respond to pressure, responsibility, or competing priorities
  • Interpersonal: explores preferred styles of relating, influencing, asserting views, and responding to others, including tendencies around confidence, candour, persuasion, and sensitivity
  • Task: indicates how individuals prefer to organise work, apply structure, maintain focus, and balance strategic versus operational demands
  • Values:assesses motivational drivers and values that shape ethical judgement, organisational fit, reward sensitivity, and reactions to authority, recognition, competition, or security
  • Self: highlights emotional style, responses to stress, anxiety, change, and uncertainty, and the conditions under which individuals are likely to feel energised, constrained, or disengaged

What it measures

...

MAPP is a normative, self-report personality and motivation questionnaire that provides insight into typical preferences rather than abilities or maximum performance:

  • 19 personality dimensions, clustered across People, Task, and Feelings domains

  • 14 motivation and values dimensions, capturing what individuals find rewarding, meaningful, or de-motivating at work

Unlike many personality questionnaires, MAPP was designed as an integrated measure of personality and motivation, recognising that behaviour at senior levels is shaped not only by traits, but by what people value, seek, and avoid.

Advisory
When not to use this questionnaire

MAPP is not designed to assess ability, aptitude, or job-specific technical competence, and should not be used as a standalone tool where objective reasoning, learning capacity, or specialist knowledge are critical to success. In high-stakes selection, it is most effective when combined with ability tests, structured interviews, or simulations, guided by Job Analysis evidence.
